Get Mazel-Tough with Krav Maga

It’s Friday night and you’re out with your buddies. Someone bumps into you and all of a sudden you have some crunked bridge-and-tunnel d’bag up in your grill. What do you do?

If you’re a regular at Krav Maga BC in Yaletown, dude is going down.

Krav Maga was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Imi Lichtenfeld, who made use of his training as a boxer and wrestler as a means of defending the Jewish quarter against fascist groups in Bratislava in the 1930′s. After the war, it was picked up by the Israeli government and became the standard hand to hand combat training system for the Israeli Defence Force and Israel’s super secret intelligence agencies, Mossad and Shin Bet. Now Krav Maga is taught to law enforcement agencies, private bodyguards, Jennifer Lopez (you go girl) and civilians around the world.

The emphasis of Krav Maga is on pragmatic self-defence for the civilian, and efficient defensive tactics for security and military professionals. In addition to learning empty-hand striking and grappling, training places heavy emphasis on defending against the full range of real-world threats and attacks: from common strikes, grabs, chokes, headlocks and other holds through to high risk situations involving weapons such as knives, sticks and firearms.

All in all, it’s a pretty bad ass way to get fit.

Try a class for free on Mondays or Wednesdays at 8pm (call ahead to book a spot), so next time when push comes to punch you can send that sucker back to where he came from (Whalley).
