Best Luxury SUV for a Foursome

Best SUV for a Foursome?

Best SUV for a Foursome?

A vehicle that’s great for a foursome has to be be appealing, loaded with features and have space for four, full-sized…golf bags.

It’s almost hit the town links season, so Briefed took some time to find out what Luxury SUV is best for a foursome.

Auto shows are good for many things.  For instance, you can get in and out of hundreds of cars, searching for one that has all the ‘right’ things you need.  Like, enough space for a fourgy foursome.

It just so happened that at the 2015 Vancouver Auto Show, all the big manufacturer had shiny, luxurious, tech-stuffed vehicles – and at this years’ show, the apartment-sized SUV’s weren’t hard to find. In an era of efficiency and performance, these beluga sized behemoths feel more living room than vehicle of transport.

Most SUV’s we looked at had motorized fold-flat seats, HDMI inputs with at least 2 TV screens (I’ll get to that later), 3-row climate control, in-car WiFi and enough space for a double-sized mattress in the back.  You get the idea – these trucks are built for fun.

So, back to golfing.  What’s important in a vehicle?  Well, you’ll need navigation to find the bars course, space to hold 4 people and their overnight golf bags and enough space to get down enjoy the ride comfortably.

We looked at the biggest SUV’s from Lexus, GMC, Mercedes, Cadillac, Infiniti and Land Rover.   So, who has the best overall SUV for a Foursome?  Read on..

6th Place - The Modularly Modest - Lexus LX

6th Place – The Modularly Modest – Lexus LX

Lexus tries, but everyone has one.  Don’t be that guy at the course.

5th Place - The Bulk Box - GMC Yukon Denali

5th Place – The Bulk Box – GMC Yukon Denali

The GMC Yukon Denali is huge and has lots of presence, but it’s more suited for a five-some, six-some or seven-some.  If you know what I mean.

4th Place - The Quickie Mobile - Mercedes GLK

4th Place – The Quickie Mobile – Mercedes ML

If you commonly show up late for tee times, the Mercedes is your SUV of choice.   It’s quick, and separates itself from the crowd by looking more like a sports car than deep freezer, but this it’s not quite big enough for everyone to move around in without cramping.

3rd Place - The White Collar Wagon - Range Rover Sport

3rd Place – The White Collar Wagon – Range Rover Sport

Like the Spice Girls?  They’d approve of the Land Rover Sport. Plus, it’s built strong enough to keep you and your foursome safe during a zombie apocalypse.  However, it’s not as plush or big enough for the comfort you want when you are in a tight squeeze.  We’ll leave it to the British bacchanals.

Runner Up - The LED Living Room - Cadillac Escalade

Runner Up – The LED Living Room – Cadillac Escalade

The Cadillac Escalade designed to go from the country club to the night clubs.  Honestly, this is the nicest looking Escalade yet and comes with one of the most luxurious and tech-filled interiors of the lot.  There’s 3 TV screens, including a large 16:9 flip-down monitor in case you want to toss a mattress in the trunk and ‘lounge’ between holes.

The Blue Beluga - Infiniti QX80

The Blue Beluga – Infiniti QX80

Which brings us to the Best Luxury SUV for a Foursome, the Infiniti QX80.  This land yacht has a luxurious exterior, wood-accented interior with tons of screens, space and amenities.  4-zone climate control, touchscreen TV’s, 3-rows of motorized fold-flat seats and reclined floorboards when folded down make it feel more like a home theatre than a vehicle interior.  It also comes with limo-tint glass and is as quiet as a vault, which, you know, is important for golfing.  If we had to pick one of these vehicles to enjoy a foursome, we feel the Infiniti would go all the way.

The Theatre Room - Infiniti QX80

We’ll be reviewing these vehicles in more detail throughout the summer, both on and off the course.  Stay tuned!
