Andy Anderson is on a roll. Known as one of the best skateboarders in the Lower Mainland, the guy has some serious talent, catching the eye of some major sponsors and spending this summer touring with skateboarding heavy weights Powell-Peralta on the #LetsGoSkate2 tour in between DamnAm competitions.
Andy represents a new generation of emerging skaters – clad in a helmet, rocking an oldschool custom deck design and telling his PR team “I just want to skate, and be me” while teaching young’uns how to do just that, he’s a far cry from the typical skater stereotype.
He can skate anything, and does skate everything. From bowls, to ramps, barricades, street rails a Santa Ana icream cart and popping an ollie over an RCMP cruiser, it came as no surprise to those that know him and have had the opportunity to watch him skate that he became the World Freestyle Champion this year. And when he’s not practicing? You can find Andy volunteering with Autism Skate Day, and local law enforcement to promote skating as an activity for youths – proving that Canucks can skate on more than just ice
Recently, Andy paired with local talent, and vlogger Christian LeBlanc for “Beyond the Board” – a short documentary profiling Anderson and his skateboarding journey. Shot guerilla style using a drone, Gopro Hero 4 Silver, Hero 4 Session and DJI Phantom the slick video showcases Andy Anderson’s talents and the awesome skateboarding venues in the Lower Mainland.
